A little bit of sewing to be done.....

Hello all,
I didn't think I would be back so soon, but I almost forgot about my card for the CDAC progressive challenge.   If you haven't played before then you are missing out on some fun. When you join you receive an image and you have 2 weeks to complete a card and enter into the challenge, you then receive another set of images and so you can keep going.
I had almost finished  and I had put it aside to complete, and forgot about it......but remembered it just in time. This challenge ends tonight, so here is my card:

I decided to make an easel card for a change.
The image is from  Patties Creations
I printed it on plain paper and then printed parts separately as I wanted to do some paper piecing and layering. I cout out the image with a Nestability die and did faux stitching round the edge.
The paper is from a pad of Papermania's Capsule Collection.
I cut some thread spools with a Joy die and the scissors is a Marianne die.
Computer generated sentiment and added some colourful buttons.

I need to see if there is a challenge or two to enter

,Now onto my card. This week the inspirational photo and colour challenge was chosen by Roxann with the twist to add a pumpkin.

Our sponsor for the last time this month is    Guylou's Inimitability with a $10 gift certificate for the winner.

I decided to go for a fairly simple card and used a CB folder to emboss my pumpkins, colouring them with distress inks and a peel-off sentimet onto a label with brads. I was finished in a minimum of time.

A little bit twisted

Good morning and a happy Monday to you all,
Firstly I just want to send good wishes to all my friends on the east coast of America in the path of Sandi. I hope you all will be spared much damage and stay safe. There have been some rather scarey happenings the last few days with tsunami warnings...thankfully not much happened and in our own country not on a huge scale but very bad rain, wind and hail storms with a lot of damage.

I have been rather busy the last week with workshops and just business in general. Coming to the time  of year with Christmas markets, everyone is painting up a storm and needing lots of glazing and items for firing.

This is a card I made for last Saturday's workshop. The ladies had asked to do some easel cards, so we did a basic and then this twisted easel. They were so happy with their cards, that it does give one immense pleasure. They are such a lovely group to work with.

The papers are from a local company and were distressed with frayed burlap for a vintage look.
Picture is from a Marianne Design..vintage sheet
The dies are my new Noor Design
Added tags, lace, ribbon, pearls a handmade rose.....part of the workshop.

Now to find a challenge or two.
Challenges 4 everybody#6...Anything goes
The Corrosive challenge blog#161.... Know when to fold them
That Craft Place...Tic,tac,toe...I used dies, lace and ribbon

Thanks for visiting, hope you all have a good week, stay safe and have fun.

It's spooky at The Outlawz

Good evening friends,
I am rather late with this post, but I had a busy morning and this afternoon had a major storm, so the PC had to be off for several hours.....anyway here I am now.

This week  the colour challenge
at The Outlawz was chosen by Laurian, with the twist..make it spooky.

Our sponsor for the month of October is
Guylou's Inimitability
with a $10 gift voucher for the winner.

I had to think hard for my card, as I do not have much in my stash that I could use, but I do have this CB folder which I think was quite suitable.

I ran the paper through my Cuttlebug, and then highlighted the embossed areas with some pearlescent paint. Cut out the windows and placed yellow vellum behind.
The sentiment  was in a candy I won some time back.

When once I had decided on what to use, it was done in a minimum of time.

Here are some challenges I am entering

Top Tip Tuesday#88...Halloween
Tuesday Throwdown#121...Halloween
Critter Challenge...Embossing
Make it Monday#112...Anything goes
Hope to be back soon, take care

Roses, rainbows & little piggy

Good evening friends,
I have had a very busy and productive day. Workshop prep. to finish off for a pewter class tomorrow, DT card, samples for nextweek's workshop and more...so yes got a lot done today.

I have a card to show that I made last week but just never got to post here.

First though a bit about our weather. We have been having very strange weather with heavy winds and in some places large hailstorms. We have been very lucky to escape the severe weather and as a result also the rain. So while we have lots of noise going on around us not much in the way of water for the garden. This afternoon we really thought our luck had run out. The sky was quite dark and we just waited in anticipation, but again it went all the way round. We did get a few minutes of quite heavy rain, but when hubby called me to quickly come and look....there was the most beautiful rainbow.

As soon as the rain stopped he went to take a photo of our Iceberg rose bush, which is so beautiful, even after a being drenched by the rain and what was left of the rainbow.

It was just such an incredible sight, the whole rainbow was visible with the most beautiful depth of colour, while it was poring down with rain.

OK...back to business. This is the card I made for the CDAC challenge no 21. The image was from Doodle Pantry. I used the sketch from 365 Cards, day 228. Coloured with watercolour pencils. DP from pieces in my stash and the sentiment...computer generated.

Entering the following challenges:
365 Cards...Day 228...sketch
On Stitch at a time...Use a digi
The Crafty Pad...Use an animal
Fussy and Fancy#74...Anything goes

Wishing everyone a very good week, see you back here soon and take care.

Prom Girl

Hi there everyone,
I hope you are all into the swing of the weekend and that it is a good one, not too cold in the north and not too hot in the south.....We are having some very strange weather here in SA Snow down in the south of the country..it's supposed to be spring!. Heavy winds, storms and hail here in the northern area... Hope it all settles down into normal summer weather soon.

My card today is  featuring one of the Divas by Design images from Digistamps4Joy...PROM GIRL

Now if you haven't heard...DS4J is having a SALE  from 24 - 27 October....with 30% off on the Cutie Pie and Divas by Design images...see all the details  HERE

Here is the card I made using Prom Girl

Coloured the image with Distress inks and Twinkling H20's and cut it out with a Nellie Snellen die.
The DP was from a no-name paper block...just loved the glitter on it. I don't think it shows up too well.
The lovely die cuts are my new dies by Noor Design from Joycrafts. Just got them this week.
Added lots of pearls and even some ribbon...under the fancy diecut.
I left off the sentiment as I am not sure who the recipient will be.

I hope you will diarize the date 24 OCT for your shopping spree at DS4J, and please don't forget to use the code

DS4J challenge # 53....Anything goes, with a twist.bonus

Good morning friends,
Yay!, Wednesday halfway through the week, hope it has been a good one so far.
The new challenge over at Digistamps 4 Joy has started and our theme is ....
ANYTHING GOES! … but with a masculine twist bonus

Enter your projects (there’s a limit to 3 per crafter), for a chance to win  3 images of your choice from the store.
The BONUS is that if your papercraft project is suitable for a man, you will also go into a separate random draw for ANOTHER 3 images from the store!
As usual, if you use a DS4J image on your project, you will get the chance to win a $10 voucher to spend in the store.......So how great is that.....so much to win.

One would think that with so many men in my family, (DH, 4 sons, 5 grandsons) it shouldn't be a problem, but always the dilema...what image to use. This time it wasn't much of a challenge, as my card was made for my grandson Joshua in the Netherlands. Last year he started playing canoe polo and this image..Canoeist...was the closest I could get.

I coloured the image with a combination of distress inks, pencils and used some liquid snow to create the white on the waves. Cut it out with an X-cut die.
Stamped and embossed the Sentiment and cut the letters for Joshua with my Cricut.
Finished off with twine and a button.
I used the sketch at the Outlawz Wednesday sketch challenge as an idea.

These are some challenges I am going to enter:

Deep Ocean challenge #36...Anything goes
Card Mania challenge #5...Happy Birthday
Make it Monday..#111.Anything goes
My craft spot #73...Emboss it.
Tammy's Scrappin Corner  #32 Anything goes
Simply Create..Linky Party #6

I hope to see you all over at the DS4J blog with some awesome creations. Take care, see you back here soon.

This week the colour palette was chosen by Guylou with this inspirational photo and twist.

Guylou's Inimitability is the sponsor for the month of October with a $10 gift certificate.

I decided to have a bit of fun with the twist.

I used an apron shape for my card, The DP is from a mini pad by Cosmo Cricket...garden variety...so today's choice is carrots.
The image from Guylou's Inimitability is Leah with latte..and I coloured it with aquarelle pencils, cut it out with a nesting die and mounted it with 3D foam pads. The sentiment is a stamp from a set of coffee themed stamps...no name.
The recipe is one sent to me some time back . Finished it off with buttons and ribbon.

Ribbon, flowers, and some bling to finish off.
I used a peel-off for the sentiment.
On the challenge blog we are asked to mention what we are thankful for....
Apart from being thankful for good health, my family and my friends, I am truly thankful for this wonderful community of crafting friends who are always so helpful in sharing, helping and inspiring one with all their beautiful creations....My grateful thanks.

Tuesday is colour challenge day at The Outlawz.

Good morning friends,
The first Tuesday of October, and usual on Tuesdays it is the  Colour challenge at the Outlawz..

This week our inspirational photo and colour palette were chosen by Margaret and the twist for October Opulance is to add pearls.

Our sponsor for the month of October is Guylou's Inimitability
with the winner receiving a $10 gift certificate.

I love the colours of this week's palette, but must confess I don't often use them, so took me a while to get something sorted in my mind, but this is what I came up with.

I used my new Marianne Design die to cut the shapes, and my old faithful for the leaves. I love this leaf die and use it so often The sentiment is from a Hero arts set..I think.( have had it so long, but lost the name tag) and pearls as required to finish off. Very plain and simple, but I need a few of these cards.

I invite you to have a look at the beautiful cards made by the DT members and then come and join us with your lovely creations. Look forward to seeing you there....

I am going to enter a few challenges
Lollipop Crafts...Something old, something new....New Marianne shaped die, old sentiment stamp.
Make it Monday...Anything goes
There she goes challenge...No Patterned paper

I hope you all have a good week. We are into real spring weather here and it is lovely. Take care, see you soon.

Love, Ursula
